There is no such thing as PUBLIC DOMAIN when it comes to adult content. Copyright remains with the copyright owner until 20 years after his death.
The copyright owner is the person who either took the pictures, or commissioned someone to take them on his/her behalf.
In order for a photo, for instance, to be PUBLIC DOMAIN, it would have to be either over at least 20 years old (assuming the copyright owner died soon after taking the picture.) or the photographer would have to file paperwork to specifically waive his/her rights to the copyright - which, when you think about it, rarely ever happens.
WHAT THIS MEANS: Photos obtained from newsgroups or other nebulous entities on the internet are NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN and most likely posted without permission from the person who took them.
We are aware that someone is cropping our images and removing the copyright markings. This is an illegal act. We will take whatever measures it needs to prosecute those how infringe our copyrights and bring them to justice. Anyone posting our images with the copyright markings removed are also commiting an offence. Pleading ignorant is no defence, so be warned.
